Beautiful new things made from beautiful old things.

This is me fulfilling my need to DO, not just to TEACH! Repurposing old unwanted things in to items which hopefully folks think are nice!
Each one of the first few items are made from vintage linens. I love the delicacy of the embroidery. The bags are simple which, for me, is part of their charm. I love to think of all the hands who have held them and the effort that has gone in to creating the decoration, much of which has been painstakingly done by hand.
Each one is created individually, meaning that they are each unique, even if similar fabrics are used. Just what I like to do best…breathing new life into old things!
The next bunch are made from fabrics that I have collected and hoarded for years, or some that have been donated to me…thanks Gemma 🙂
The same applies to these as to the vintage linen…making things by hand allows for each one to be slightly different. It is also a great way for me to get some head space…I can kind of switch off from everyday life and just make.
The colours are really wide ranging…I am personally always drawn to natural fibres and a neutral, subtle palette, but I try to do different patterns and colours too…
These last few are some I made a long time ago…I had masses of them and down the years they have been given away as gifts, sold or I have used them in my home…lavender bags, jewellery pouches, decoratively, storing stuff (lego and moshi monsters being two that spring to mind!)
Well there we are. I hope you like them. It is always good to reuse, reduce and recycle and it is infinitely preferable to unwanted fabrics ending in landfill!! It is almost always possible to find a use for things. Well I think so anyway! I’d like to imagine these ending up as items that eventually have a history of their own…who knows!
